Athens of Indiana Arts Celebration

A Weekend of Cultural Creativity in Crawfordsville

October 1-2, 2011

The Athens of Indiana Arts Celebration is a weekend full of art appreciation and participation throughout scenic Montgomery County, Indiana, known for generations as the "Athens of Indiana" for its rich cultural heritage.

Artists from around the region will converge on Montgomery County for a weekend of painting some of our picturesque natural vistas en plein aire--in the great outdoors!

Saturday, October 1 will be spent in the blissful act of artistic creation, after which artists are invited to a dinner in downtown Crawfordsville to meet and mingle with fellow art aficionados.

On the second day of the paint-out, artists can enter their creations into an art show on the beautiful grounds of the General Lew Wallace Study & Museum in Crawfordsville, which includes cash awards and the opportunity to purchase original creations.

Sunday afternoon, October 2, the General Lew Wallace Study & Museum will also be hosting their 7th-annual free Artists in Residence Program, where artists from several media and art educators gather on the grounds to display their masterpieces and demonstrate the artistic process to visitors.
